Taking its inspiration from the young people themselves, ALDAG aims to support and encourage young people with learning difficulties to achieve fulfilling lives within their local community. Two key activities are the Conquerors Club and the Development Programme.
Offers young people with learning difficulties the opportunity to socialise and expand their range of friendships.
“Above all, Conquerors strives to be a happy experience for its members. The programme of events is continually evolving” says ALDAG Chairman Derek Wiseman. (click here for Conquerors)
Includes established and ongoing projects such as Conquerors Club, the Summer Scheme and the “partnered” project with Cherchefelle to provide a shared independent home for a small group of young people. Further expansion of the independent housing project and developments such as ‘Filling the Gap’, and the creation of ‘person centred plans’ through links with Advocacy Partners consultation service are part of ALDAG’s ambitious future plans. On Saturday 8th October the Ashtead Ball took place at Denbies with the proceeds of the evening split between ALDAG and The Royal Marsden Hospitel. It was a fun glitzy evening and again the amount raised will be announced shortly.
The Worldwide Charities Fair took place at St George's Christian Centre on Saturday 26th November and ALDAG ran a very successful cafe in the Church. Our thanks to Gill Walker and her team for running this.
